rage ≠ a luxury (Wut ist kein Luxus) is a workshop format where we explore and experiment with the abject voice. Built with a series of exercises informed by vocalists/performers, peer to peer knowledge exchange, the punk/metal scene sounds of growling, grunting and screaming, these sessions situate themselves on the edges of playful intervention, informal collective ‘noising’, body-centered research, and introduction to the rougher facets of our own voice-making. rage ≠ a luxury is a space centered around collectively witnessing each other and ourselves in ugly and foolish states. This work intends to create an expanded understanding of our own voice beyond harmony and beauty, reaching for the poetics that lie beyond language.
Open to all, with a special invite to anyone who is curious to explore their voice for their performance practice. The workshop will be lead in English, all languages are welcome. One session is 3 hours long. Max 12 participants. Please register writing directly to nenehnoi@proton.me. Bring a yoga mat and/or blankets.
neneh noï is a poet currently based in Belgium. Their practice revolves around language; facilitating spaces where writing/text and performance activate each other, translation, transcription, facilitation, pedagogy, archiving, organising, iterating. Recurrent subjects are the abject, the body, hybridity, desire, the undefined, non-identities, the fractal, the unwelcome, disruption, anonymity. Their work is, among others, informed by poets, sex workers, artists, kinships. Currently and generally they are writing, archiving their gran’s and their own poetry, co-organising Anonymous Poets sessions with Kate Paul and Roya Shadmand, co-organising mediation event called DRAMA in PAF (Performing Arts Forum, Saint-Erme. France). Upcoming: publishing of their poetry collection by CUTT PRESS.
